Pickett Kiddyland

Lena Mae Smith-Pickett opened Pickett Kiddyland in 1965.  Along with her husband, Edgar Pickett Jr, they found a piece of property at the corner of 10 Street and Kettles Avenue.  At the time, one of it major attractions is that the building was air conditioned.  The daycare focused on learning and taught students art, critical thinking, creativity and reading readiness.
