Korean War:  1950 - 1953

The Korean War (or Fatherland Liberation War) lasted from June 25, 1950 to July 27, 1953.  It began when North Korea invaded South Korea.  As a result, the United Nations, with the United States as the principal force, came to the aid of South Korea.  In turn, China came to the aid of North Korea.

 

The Korean War never ended but military activities stopped as a result of a cease-fire agreement.  Black soldiers from Lakeland who served in the Korean War are:
